ABOUT THE MODEL

Jenny Ross Aquines Pelaez, 31, is originally from Manila, Philippines and currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. She is a lawyer for a law firm in Los Angeles.

From Jenny:

I worked as a staff attorney/fellow at the National Center for Law and Economic Justice (www.nclej.org) for two years and strongly believe in their work.  They advocate in court, in government, and in communities to protect the rights of people living in poverty. They fight to make sure that society’s most vulnerable have access to basic needs like food and health care, and are treated fairly by government agencies meant to serve them.  And they make sure that low-wage workers can secure fair wages and work in safe and dignified workplaces.  I did a lot of human rights work before then, and continue an active pro bono practice at the firm, but some of my most impactful work came out of my time at NCLEJ.
